Read books to your child, get a prize

New program launches Sept. 28

Shelton residents are invited to drop in to the Plumb Memorial Library on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2-4 p.m. to register for a new program for newborns to children entering kindergarten.

Pledge to read 1,000 books to your child before they enter school, and receive educational prizes as you reach certain reading milestones.

Build a binder of information and reading logs to serve as a  memento of your child’s early literacy experiences. Along the way, collect reading tips and resources to use with your child.

The Saturday kickoff celebration will feature information and activity stations for parents and children.

Sponsored and funded by Plumb Memorial Library, Friends of the Shelton Libraries, Shelton School Readiness Council and Valley Community Foundation’s Community Grants Program.
