Choice Design Remodeling wrapped up the Valley Independent Softball League Division 3 championship with a 15-3 and 32-23 doubleheader sweep of Microboard Processing, Inc.
In the opener, Andrew Lavaway, Wayne Britto and John Fair garnered three hits each for the victors. Greg Marangell and Joe Peccerillo had two apiece.
Best for MPI were Jeff Perez and Justin Maesto with a pair of hits apiece.
The nightcap saw the lead change hands four times through the first three frames, before the Designers went ahead for good with a nine-run fourth.
Fair’s 5-for-5, including two triples, paced the winners. Jeff Bryce, Matt Barr, Nick Moore and Dave Donnarummo, who also had a pair of triples, all banged out three hits apiece, while Steve Donnarummo had two hits and five RBIs.
Rob Rios and Jorge Rivera topped the MPI hit list with five each. Tim Oppel collected four while A.J. Bordas had three.
Kut-Rite Hair Shop captured a pair of close victories over Jesse’s Barber Shop, 12-11 and 11-10.
In the opening game win, a win that ended Jesse’s recent hot streak of nine straight triumphs, Kut-Rite held an early 7-1 lead, fell behind 11-7, before rallying late to claim the decision. Brian Valeria went 4-for-4 with a triple to lead the victors offensively. Bob Findley, Dave Arroyo and winning pitcher Pete Silva added two hits each.
Three hits each by Rob Kurdy and Tony Lepri led Jesse’s. Chris Beleske and Greg Gaudiosi notched a pair apiece.
