New Shelton restaurant plans grand opening today

A new café serving breakfast, lunch and dinner has opened in the Split Rock shopping center on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton.

Focaccia’s Café & Catery (pronounced “kay-tuh-ree”) will hold a grand opening ceremony Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 5–7 p.m. at 702 Bridgeport Ave., on the street side of the retail complex. Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti and Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce President Bill Purcell are expected to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

 

Owners: “Quality, service, speed, value’

Co-owners Michelangelo Guerrera and Ben Mujollari described Focaccia’s as “a modern-style quick service cafe that combines the best of quality, service, speed and value.”

The establishment will offer Mediterranean dishes, including specialty salads and soups. Paninis and sandwiches will be prepared on a selection of focaccia-style bread varieties baked fresh on-site daily (bread varieties include red pepper, herb, onion, Asiago cheese, mushroom and plain).

Focaccia’s also specializes in French-style crepes. The whole-wheat savory crepes and sweet dessert crepes will be prepared fresh to order.

 

Fresh croissants, coffee and espresso

Other offerings are fresh baked French croissants for breakfast and a full coffee house menu, with five drip-brewed coffee blends and espresso bar specialty drinks such as cappuccino, latte, macchiato, iced coffee, fresh brewed iced teas, and smoothies. Italian desserts will be available as well.

The café will be open 6 a.m.–9 p.m. seven days a week. Orders will be placed at the front counter and then served to each guest’s table.
