The day that celebrates all that is Shelton is taking place this weekend. Shelton Day will be Sunday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Howe Avenue in downtown Shelton.

The annual street festival, organized by the Derby/Shelton Rotary Club, will feature about 150 booths with food, crafts, interactive activities, and information.

Continuous entertainment will be offered on multiple stages. The event takes place rain or shine.

Vendor booth applications are available by going to SheltonDay.com or calling 203-567-0252 (leave a message).

Event began in the 1980s

Shelton Day was first organized by the Shelton Business District Association in the mid-1980s as a small street fair. The goal was to bring people into downtown Shelton and introduce them to the business community.

The event has now grown into a citywide festival and celebration, run by the local Rotary Club. It is promoted as “An Annual Celebration of Life in a Great City.”

All proceeds received from Shelton Day are put back into the community, through scholarships and community projects.
