This weekend: Housatonic water level draw-down planned

The water level of Lake Housatonic will be lowered from an elevation of 25.2 feet to 22.22 feet, beginning at midnight on Friday, Oct. 4 so that Derby Dam can be inspected and maintained, and to enable shoreline residents to inspect and maintain their properties.

Lowering the water level of Lake Housatonic is contingent on river flow conditions and FirstLight Power Resources’ need to generate electricity at the time of the drawdown at its upstream dams. The water level is expected to return to normal by midnight on Sunday, Oct. 6.

If it should not be feasible to draw down Lake Housatonic on those dates, the alternate plan is to begin lowering it at midnight on Friday, Oct. 25, and returning the water to normal level no later than midnight on Sunday, Oct. 27.

For updates regarding this scheduled drawdown, call the hydro plant at 203-924-8949 and speak with the plant manager.
