Public can bring pet to Blessing of Animals on Sunday in Shelton

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on the Huntington Green invites pet owners, animal lovers and furry friends to the Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. in the church parking lot, 25 Church St.

The event, free and open to the public and their pets, will feature individual pet blessings. Complimentary treats will be provided for all dogs and cats.

The Blessing of Animals originated in the 13th century in remembrance of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals and the environment, who believed that all animals should be treated with dignity and respect.

All participants will receive a St. Francis bookmark and an article about the life of St. Francis.
