Power restored in Shelton

UPDATE 6:40 p.m. — According to the UI website, power is back on in Shelton, including at Shelton High School, which lost power around 5 p.m. today, causing afternoon activities to be canceled.

Oct. 17, 4:16 p.m. — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10 p.m. tonight. At 4:16 p.m., 1,213 customers were without power, according to the United Illuminating website. The estimated time for all lights to be back on is after 7 p.m.

The weather watch is in effect for a large swath along southern and eastern parts of the state, including Fairfield and New Haven counties.
