Pine Rock Park Fire Company's ziti dinner draws a crowd

Ashley Kovacs and Eric Castelot, both of Shelton, dine on Italian food at the Pine Rock Park Fire Company ziti dinner fund-raiser.

Close to 200 people dined on pasta at the Pine Rock Park Fire Company’s annual ziti dinner on Oct. 4 at the firehouse on Long Hill Avenue.

“It was our best year yet,” said Pine Rock firefighter Al Pereira, who serves on the volunteer department’s fund-raising committee.

Pereira said the event has been moved into the firehouse’s garage because it became too big for the hall. “It’s good to see the community support,” he said.

Verace’s donated and prepared the food

Todd Demarco and Daniella Chang assisted with the salad and other duties during the fire company event.

The meal was donated and prepared by Verace’s Pizzeria, Tavern & Italian Eatery on Center Street in downtown Shelton. Guests dined on ziti, meatballs, sausage, salad and dessert.

Money generated by the fund-raising dinner and associated raffle are used to pay expenses at the fire company.

Pine Rock Park Fire Company No. 4 was founded in 1933 to serve much of south Shelton.
