Shelton defeats Wilbur Cross, 36-19

Michael Pingree ran for a 3-yard touchdown on a quarterback keeper with 3:29 left to play when coach Jeff Roy’s Shelton High football team defeated Wilbur Cross, 36-19, in New Haven on Friday afternoon.
Pingree, who came in to run the offense after starter Mark Piccirillo restrained a hamstring on the Gaels’ opening series, scored twice and Jason Thompson also had two touchdowns to give Shelton a 28-7 lead at the half.
Wilbur Cross rallied back within 28-19, before Shelton tacked on the insurance score.
