Shelton-JonesUnicef1Above, Chrissy Scarpati carves a pumpkin at Jones Family Farms during the Family Festival for UNICEF on Saturday. Scarpati lives in Monroe and teaches art at Fawn Hollow Elementary School in that town.

Many families with young children dropped by the festival to pick out pumpkins for Halloween. The festival also featured hayrides, gourd creature-making, games and other activities to raise money for charity.

Proceeds benefit UNICEF as well as The Valley Goes Pink breast cancer awareness initiative.

Below, Scarpati’s designs include one where people can put their hand in the indention she carved in the pumpkin.
