Lots of Halloween fun for Shelton kids at trick-or-trunk

One decorated vehicle at the Shelton trick-or-trunk had a Wizard of Oz theme, with, from left, Cowardly Lion Dan Manion, 17; Glinda the Good Witch (in green) Jennie Silinsky, 9; Tin Woman Iliana Jimenez, 17; Wicked Witch Jean Silinsky (Jennie and Erin’s mom); as Dorothy, Erin Silinsky, 15; and Scarecrow Ryan Whitney, 17.

Hundreds of youngsters showed off their costumes and loaded up on candy during a trick-or-trunk event on Halloween evening at Shelton Intermediate School.

Many people parked their vehicles, with trunks they had decorated with various Halloween themes, and handed out sweets to children while dressed in costume themselves.

There also was deejay music, fire trucks, an ambulance, and a tent with give-aways from the Shelton School Readiness Council and Shelton Library System.

Rockettes Natalya Correria, left, and Hannah Weiss, both 9, prepare for their future Radio City Musical Hall debut in front of a Shelton fire truck.

Some occasional light drizzle didn’t put a damper on the youngsters’ spirits, with heavier rain holding off long enough for plenty of ghoulish fun.

The event was sponsored by the Shelton Youth Service Bureau.
