How many registered voters does Shelton have?

According to the Registrars of Voters office, as of late last week Shelton had 23,812 voters. Unaffiliated voters far outnumber Republicans and Democrats in the city.

The voter registration breakdown is as follows:

 

Unaffiliated — 12,543

Republican — 6,111

Democrat — 5,120

Other Parties — 38

TOTAL — 23,812

 

The 2012 population of Shelton is 40,261, so 51% of people who live in the city (which includes children) are registered to vote.

The “Other Parties” category would include minor parties such as the Green, Libertarian and Working Families parties.
