Shelton resident Valerie Mingrone, a freshman in the Trumbull Agriscience Program, wants to combine her passion for shelter dogs with helping a sixth grade student at Perry Hill School.

That sixth grader, Jackie Turiano, is in need of a diabetic alert dog. According to an email, Jackie has Type I diabetes and also suffers from a severe bleeding condition.

The event Valerie is organizing is a pack walk where people can either bring their dogs, or walk without a dog on Sunday, Nov. 17 from noon-3 p.m. The cost is $10 per person or $25 per family.

Homemade dog biscuits and raffles

There will be homemade dog biscuits given to each dog, and raffles will be available. Registration will begin at noon at the Shelton Dog Park. Rain date is the following Sunday.
