Shelton High School boys basketball and Shelton Biddy Basketball will offer a free basketball clinic, with participants asked to bring a nonperishable food item for Spooner House.
The clinic will take place Saturday, Nov. 23 at Shelton Intermediate School. Session I for boys in grades 1-3 will be from 9-10 a.m., and Session II for boys in grades 4-8 will go from 10 a.m.-noon.
Brian Gardiner, Shelton High boys basketball coach, and his coaching staff will put on the clinic. Gardiner runs the Prime Time Basketball Camp each summer.
At the upcoming session, youngsters can learn proper fundamentals for ball handling, passing, shooting, and defending.
Help those in need during the holidays
Each clinic participant is being asked to donate a nonperishable food item as part of a food drive. Donations will be collected in the lobby at Shelton Intermediate.
Nonperishable items needed for the holidays are boxed instant potatoes, gravy packages, boxed or bagged stuffing, canned vegetables, canned cranberry sauce, and canned fruit.
Also, jarred pickles, canned olives, corn bread mix, pie crust mix, pie filling, canned evaporated milk, powdered juice mix, sugar, brownie mix, coffee, tea and napkins.
The donated items will be used donate for holiday meal baskets by Spooner House.
