Veterans from the state — including Shelton and Derby — were presented with an award recently.

Justin Hart, the associate national service director of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), presented Shelton veterans Frank DeAngelo and Al Meadows, Derby veteran Josh Phillips and three other Connecticut veterans with a plaque from DAV National Headquarters during their November 4th visit to Walter Reed.

The plaque was in recognition of Operation Gift Cards’ 100th visit to the Walter Reed National Military Hospital in Maryland.

The six veterans who participated in the 100th visit have led their respective organization’s participation in OGC during the past eight years. Sixth-eight organizations have co-sponsored Operation Gift Cards visits while distributing over $733,450 in Post exchange gift cards and corporate donations to the wounded troops and their families.
