Traffic problems on Route 8 south in Shelton

Emergency crews are wrapping up work on a situation on Route 8 southbound, between Exit 12 (Old Stratford Road) and Exit 11 (lower Bridgeport Avenue).

As of 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, at least two emergency vehicles were in the left lane with their emergency lights on. This is causing backups for highway traffic as vehicles must move to the right, going over the rumble strips, to pass the scene.

The emergency vehicles appear to be a State Police cruiser and a local fire truck. There didn’t appear to be a non-emergency vehicle in the vicinity at that time (such as a car that was in an accident), but this could not be determined for certain.
