Dormers are being built on the roof of the Huntington Shopping Plaza, where a new natural foods market will open in a few months at the site of the former Beechwood Market.
Here, contractor Michael Briganti can be seen on Saturday morning working on the dormers, being added as part of a plan to update the look of the plaza, which also houses Royal Bakery on the street side.
In addition to the dormers, plans call for building a new foyer at the front of the former Beechwood store and adding a closed loading dock area on the side.

Beechwood Market had occupied much of Huntington Plaza for more than a half century, becoming a neighborhood mainstay in Huntington Center. Beechwood closed unexpectedly in late August.
The new store will be called Common Bond Market and be operated by people associated with Thyme & Season, a similar establishment in business since 1997 in Hamden.
The market will offer fresh produce, prepared foods to go, a deli, bulk-bin areas and nutritional supplements. It could open as early as February.
