Afternoon Knitters — Wednesdays, Dec. 4 and 11, 1 p.m. Local knitters, new members welcome; meets in main floor reading room for the summer.

 

4/6 READ! — Wednesday, Dec. 4, 6:30 p.m. Readers in grades 4-6 share ideas and opinions on this month’s book; new members welcome, copies available at registration.

 

AlphaBits — Thursdays, Dec. 5 and 12, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome

 

Stay & Play — Fridays, Dec. 6 and 13, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers; chat over coffee or tea, juice provided, bring a snack and a friend.

 

Budding Bookworms — Mondays, Dec. 9 and 16, 10:30 a.m. A themed drop in story and craft time for kids 1-5 years old and their caregivers.

 

MS Holiday Party — Monday, Dec. 9, 2 p.m. Regional support group offers their annual potluck holiday event, new and old members welcome to drop in.

 

SW CAPA — Monday, Dec. 9, 6:30 p.m. Regional authors and publishers group meets for criticism, support and speakers; new members welcome.

 

Plumb Picassos — Tuesdays, Dec.10 and 17, 2 p.m. In this drop in art based story time pre-schoolers explore art through picture books and then create original pieces, plus Freezer Dance and play Miss Maura Says.

 

knit! — Tuesdays, Dec. 10 and 17, 6 p.m. Knitters meet to share and support.

 

Kids in the Kitchen — Wednesday, Dec. 11, 6 p.m. Gingerbread Make, Bake, and Take! for children 3 and older with caregivers. Kids must be accompanied by an adult who should expect to take part too. Inform staff of allergies. Dress for mess. Registration required and limited.

 

Teens Booked for Lunch — Saturday, Dec.14, 12:30 p.m. Teens 13-19 drop in for discussion of Legend by Marie Lu over a quick lunch. No registration, pick up a copy in the teen room.

 

Teen Boost — Saturday, Dec. 14, 1:45 p.m. Teens 13-19 drop in for cooking, crafts and more.

 

Family Holiday Workshop — Saturday, Dec. 14, 1-3 p.m. All-age drop-in program to build and decorate gingerbread creations. Extra candy welcome. In addition have a snack, and make some ornaments to decorate the children’s department, supplies are provided. No registration, children ages 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for mess.

 

Holiday Basket Walk — Saturday, Dec. 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friends of the Shelton Libraries provide a selection of gift baskets in this fundraiser. Tickets on sale at both libraries now; join the Friends and get a bonus. Drawing will be held at 4 p.m., winner does not have to be present.

 

Teen Movie Critics — Saturday, Dec. 14, 3 p.m. Teens 13-19 drop in to watch and critique movies, all ages and genres; a light dinner aids discussion.

 

1000 Books Before K — Information and supplies all provided at sign-up. To encourage families to read together, with the help of the Shelton School Readiness Council and Friends of the Shelton Libraries the Plumb Library is offering support for tracking all 1,000 books plus rewards and prizes along the way. Funding from the Valley Community Foundation and the Valley United Way supports this new adventure.

Home Delivery — Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials. Contact the branch library, 203- 926-0111). A project underwritten with support from the Friends of the Library and the Valley Community Foundation.
