The Shelton Police Department is currently investigating a report from Lincoln Technical Institute located in Shelton of a possible weapons violation — this investigation is focused on the facility of the Institute and does not affect the normal operation of Shelton’s Public or Private schools.

Here is the release from the Shelton Police Department:

On 12-3-13 at approximately 10:00 am, Shelton Police were called to 8 Progress Dr, Lincoln Technical Institute, for a report of a firearm taken from a vehicle. Upon arrival police spoke with the 38 year old male complainant who stated he parked his vehicle at Lincoln Technical Institute this morning and that he left a firearm in the vehicle. The complainant reported the firearm was hidden inside the vehicle. The complainant went to his car during a break and noticed his vehicle window was smashed and his firearm was stolen.

Police began searching the premise and the surrounding area, but were unable to locate the firearm. Students were then dismissed by school administrators.

The incident is still under investigation and more details will be released when available.
