A 38-year-old student at Lincoln Technical Institute called the Shelton Police Department on Tuesday morning, to report that his firearm had been taken from a vehicle.
According to police reports, officers were called to Lincoln Tech at 8 Progress Drive at about 10 a.m. Officers spoke to the man who said the firearm — a semi-automatic handgun — had been hidden inside the vehicle.
During a class break, the complainant said he went to his vehicle in the Lincoln Tech parking lot and saw a window had been smashed, and the firearm was gone.
Police began searching the area, but were unable to locate the firearm. Students then were dismissed by school administrators.
The incident is still under investigation and more details will be released when available, police said.
