Meeting Santa in Shelton: The thrill of the holiday season

After the lighting ceremony, children were able to meet with Santa on the gazebo, near the colorfully decorated Christmas tree.

Youngsters wait to greet Santa Claus, who was just arriving on a Huntington fire truck.

Many dozens of people — mostly families with young children — were in attendance, and they patiently waited in line to share their Christmas wishes with Saint Nick.

In addition to the appearance by Santa and the lighting of the tree, the event included the singing of Christmas carols, remarks by Mayor Mark Lauretti and ceremony organizer Roger J. Spinelli, and hot cocoa and muffins donated by Auntie’s Cafe in Huntington Center.
