Shelton Police Department’s traffic safety achievements honored by AAA

The Shelton Police Department recently received a Silver Award for its outstanding traffic safety programs from AAA Southern New England, the local motor club.

The department’s programs include mature driver training, reduction in auto crashes and aggressive speed enforcement initiatives.

The award was presented to Shelton police officials at the AAA’s fourth annual Community Traffic Safety Awards lunch at Marisa’s in Trumbull.

Based in Hamden, AAA Southern New England provides travel, insurance, finance, and auto-related services to more than 3.5 million members in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island. In Connecticut, the motor club covers Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties.

Services offered by AAA include driver’s license renewals, international driving permits, and theme park and movie ticket sales.
