The Shelton High boys basketball team opened its season with an 83-43 road win over Jonathan Law in Milford on Wednesday night.
Casey Belade and Chris Pawlowski each scored 13 points, Mike Davis 12 and Patrick Murphy 10 for the Gaels.
“I liked our effort,” Shelton coach Brian Gardiner said. “I told them to expect a slow start (being the opener) and to battle through it. We ran our full court man defense and the rest took care of itself.”
Jeff Stochmal and Matt Tersasi came off the bench to score nine points each. Christian Federici had seven points and Jack Gleason five.
Shelton led 16-10 after one quarter, and Belade scored 10 points in the second period to help extend the lead to 47-25.
