An employee of a Shelton company won first place in the Lions’ Den competition at Airline Information’s Mega Loyalty Conference, held Nov. 12-14 in Vancouver, Canada.
Glenn Zimmerer, vice president strategic partnerships at Shelton-based SSI, was the award recipient. The event was attended by 500 people from the airline, hospitality and financial services industries.
The Lions’ Den is a showcase of new products, services and partnership programs in which companies give a pitch to loyalty industry judges.
A conference official said Zimmerer’s presentation showed “conviction and passion,” convincing judges “of the [SSI] program’s ability to drive engagement with loyalty members — and significant revenue to loyalty managers.”
Sharing opinions brings rewards
The SSI Loyalty Partnership program engages companies in major industries, such as airlines, hotels, retailers and banks. Members at the companies can earn loyalty currency immediately and exclusively for sharing their opinions with SSI.
Also attending the conference for SSI was Bob Fawson, the company’s chief access, supply and engagement officer, who presented results from new SSI research into loyalty member preferences.
As loyalty program managers work to bring their programs closer to today’s mobile consumer, Fawson explained respondents between ages 18 to 34 answered favorably to receiving loyalty points for giving recommendations on social media networks.
