Sunday’s unseasonably balmy weather is about to give way to more typical temperatures for late December.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), it was 61 degrees at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22 in Shelton — but it could be 40 degrees colder in about 48 hours.
The NWS forecast for tonight calls for some rain and fog, with lows of about 50 degrees.
On Monday, it should be in the 50s and rainy, with up to an inch of rain possible during the course of the day. Temperatures will drop into the 20s on Monday night.
On Tuesday, the high should be 37 degrees and mostly sunny, with snow showers possible in the afternoon. A slight chance of snow showers continues at night on Christmas Eve, with a low of 18 degrees, according to NWS.
On Wednesday, Christmas Day, the high should be 28 degrees with mostly sunny skies.
