The recent snow on the ground has melted due to the unseasonably warm weather Sunday and Monday, but colder weather is back — and possibly snow as well.
And a lot of people in Shelton and nearby towns are hoping for more white stuff, with today being Christmas Eve.
The temperature in Shelton is 28 degrees as of 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, with a predicted high of 39 today, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Mostly sunny skies are expected to give way to increasing clouds in the afternoon, with “a slight chance” of snow showers from 7 to 11 p.m. tonight, the NWS said. There’s also a small chance of some rain preceding any snow, depending on the temperatures.
Good visibility for Santa in his sleigh
It will clear up again in the middle of the night, just in time to provide good visibility for Santa and his reindeer making the rounds. The low tonight should be 15 degrees, the NWS said.
On Wednesday, Christmas Day, it should be sunny with a high of 24 degrees. The low on Wednesday night into Thursday will be 23 degrees, with another slight chance of snow showers.
Thursday should be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers, and a high of 29 degrees, and Friday will be mostly sunny with a high of 37.
