Police: Tips helped catch alleged Shelton bank robber

The Shelton Police Department received several phone calls identifying the suspect of the Webster Bank robbery Monday after an image from the bank’s surveillance video was released to the media.

Police were then able to track the suspect to an acquaintance’s condo complex in Shelton that is adjacent to the Webster Bank branch at 375 Bridgeport Ave., at the Nells Rock Road intersection.

“The quick arrest of the suspect in this case was the culmination of the police and the public working together with the assistance of the media,” a press release from the police department stated. “The patrol division and the detective bureau worked efficiently together to arrest the suspect approximately four hours after the robbery.”
