Obituary: Stephen B. Semanchik, 87, of Shelton

Stephen B. Semanchik, age 87 of Shelton, the widower of Ermalinda Piccirillo Semanchik, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Birmingham Health Care Center in Derby.

Born in Bridgeport, to the late Andrew and Anna Demchak Semanchik, Stephen was a WWII veteran of the US Army, and has been a lifelong area resident.

He was a retired Industrial Designer with AVCO-Lycoming and a member of St. John’s Church, where he was a former member of the Board of Directors, Seniors, and the Male Chorus.

Survivors include two devoted sisters, Mary Hritz and her husband Joseph and Dorothy Gilbert all of Stratford, a loving companion Helen Saranich of Shelton and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers, John, Andrew and George and a sister Anna Malyzska.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 6th at 10:15am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 11:00 in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Panachida will be at 4:30 PM.
