It appears 3 to 4 inches of snow fell along Shelton’s Bridgeport Avenue corridor and in downtown Shelton overnight.
Accumulation numbers can be hard to determine because the light snow was blown around by wind. More snow may have fell in Shelton’s hilly areas, such as the White Hills and Huntington.
Shelton roads are passable this morning, although don’t expect to see a lot of pavement. Traffic on Route 8 is moving at about 30 to 40 mph, mostly single file in the middle of the road.
Shelton public schools are closed today. The Shelton Senior Center and Shelton public libraries also are closed. City Hall is scheduled to open at noon and the Shelton Community Center at 11 a.m.
The current temperature (7:30 a.m.) in Shelton is 7 degrees, or -13 with the wind chill factor, according to the National Weather Service. It should clear up later today and the high will reach 15 degrees. Air temperatures tonight should dip to -5, with wind chills of -12.
