Slick roads: Freezing rain advisory in effect for Shelton

A freezing rain advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5 for Shelton and the rest of southern Connecticut, including all of Fairfiled and New Haven counties.

A freezing rain drizzle began falling in the area around 10 a.m. on Sunday. While it looks like a regular drizzle, there are reports of frozen roads in southwestern Connecticut.

“A glaze of ice will make travel treacherous, especially on untreated and elevated surfaces,” according to the National Weather Service’s freezing rain advisory.

The light freezing drizzle and rain is expected to turn over to all rain by later today.
