SEE VIDEOS: Firefighters battle downtown blaze

All companies as well as multiple surrounding towns have been working a multi-alarm fire downtown that was reported a little past midnight on Monday.

According to reports, a building on Howe Avenue near Bridge Street was in flames. A video was tweeted by Echo Hose Fire Department this morning.

This afternoon another video of the blaze was posted on YouTube.

“As of 6 a.m. there is a water main break, so many in downtown Shelton are without water,” wrote Planning and Zoning member Jimmy Tickey on his twitter page. “About 900 UI customers are without power.”

As of 7:10 a.m. Monday, the fire was still burning.

“Basically we’re drowning this thing, that’s where we are right now,” said Assistant Fire Chief Nick Verdicchio in an article by the Vally Indy.
