The early morning fire on Monday displaced occupants of 24 apartments. Donations of clothing and food still are being accepted at the firehouse. Residents of the apartments lost all their belongings in the fire.
DeLauro, whose U.S. House district includes downtown Shelton, was in the city to tour the fire scene, meet with city officials and those impacted by the blaze, and to discuss small business loans that are available for businesses impacted by the blaze.
