SHELTON SNOW UPDATE: Traffic backs up as snow begins coming down

The snow is coming down at a good rate and has covered all ground surfaces. It appears to be a slippery kind of snow.

Many plows are out clearing roads, especially the main thoroughfares.

Some local arteries, such as Bridgeport Avenue, are beginning to back up as people head home early from work and perhaps try to avoid driving on the highway (Route 8).

In Shelton, due to the inclement weather, schools were dismissed early and the Shelton Community Center and city public libraries closed at 4:30 p.m.
