No school today; make sure you dress in warm layers

Shelton schools are closed today, Wednesday, Jan. 22.

At Shelton High School, periods 3 and 4 exams will be held on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, there will be widespread blowing snow before 10 a.m. But, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 18. Wind chill values as low as -11. Wind gusts could reach as high as 28 mph.

If you do go outside, make sure to dress in warm layers and cover any exposed skin. Frostbite is painless and can happen quickly.

Other closings/delays:

• Valley United Way’s office, 54 Grove Street, will open at 9:30.

• Both libraries will open at 11 a.m.
