Basketball: Shelton Men's League opens up

In Week 1 of the Shelton A Division Men’s Basketball League, CDW outlasted Artan’s Pizza, 61-53, Kondrat pulled away from The Buds, 72-59, Colony Grill defeated Pivovar, 78-68, Abell beat Uptempo, 61-47, and Fitzgerald Construction toppled Valley Roofing.

Jordan Singleton sizzled for 33 points in the CDW victory.

Kondrat’s balanced scoring prevailed over the Buds, despite 20 points from Jon Robles.

Adam Hovan dominated late in scoring 17 points to lead Colony over Pivovar.

Brendan Abell led Abell with 20 points in the win over Uptempo. Aaron Skoronski had 11 points in the loss.

Jim Beckwith’s torrid shooting from deep resulted in 21 points for Fitzgerald Construction in its victory. Dave Tvardzik had 22 points for Valley Roofing.

In B Division games, defending champions KFC opened up with a 50-40 victory over Total Comfort. Zamba Graphics defeated Blanchette’s Pacers, 50-33, and Cahill Law cruised by Danny O’s, 47-20.

Mo Martin had 17 points for KFC, while James Kirby had 16 for Total Comfort.

Mike Hart scored 20 points to lead Zamba Graphics over Blanchettes, who got a team-high 14 from Mike Festa.

Joe Thompson scored 16 points for Cahill Law in its rout over Danny O’s.

Week 2

Matt Pivovar’s 3-pointer with one second left in overtime led Pivovar to an 86-85 win over Abell in A Division action.

Nick Fluett scored points for Abell’s in defeat.

In another hard-fought contest, Kondrat beat Valley Roofing, 60-58, as Arron Gagner scored his only basket of the night in the final seconds to secure the victory.

John Danielski led Kondrat (2-0) with 21 points. Greg DeSantis scored a game-high 28 points for the Roofers.

In other A Division action, Fitzgerald improved to 2-0 with a 75-43 romp over Uptempo. The Buds got by Artan’s Pizza, 62-59, and Colony Grill whipped CDW, 75-51.

Brendan Prutting’s 25 points led Fitzgerald’s. Matt Todice had 11 points for Uptempo.

Rashon Reid poured in 25 points for The Buds to overcome 35 from D.J. Jones of Artan’s.

Colony Grill used a balanced effort to upend CDW, which was led by Singleton’s 24 points.

In the B Division, Total Comfort beat Danny O’s, 50-35, behind James Kirby’s 15 points. Dennis Phillips had nine points to pace Danny O’s.

Zamba Graphics moved to 2-0 wit n easy win over Cahill Law, 63-49. Mike Billingslea notched 20 points for the winners and Mark Belade powered Cahill with 16.

Week 3

Jones erupted for 31 points to lead Artan’s Pizza to a 53-51 win over Valley Roofing in Week 3 action. Johh Marro led the Roofers with 21 points.

Danielski had 19 points to lead Kondrat to its third win, topping Uptempo, 64-38.

Pivovar pulled away for a 75-60 victory over Fitzgerald Construction.

John Ribas netted 21 points for Pivovar and Al Franceschini had 21 in a losing cause.

B Division saw Zamba Graphics move to 3-0 with an easy 52-37 win over KFC. Mike Federici had 15 points for the winners and Joe Callinan 14 for KFC.

Blancette’s won their first game of the year, 43-38, over Danny O’s. Festa scored 17 points and Century Gamble 16 for the Pacers. Dave Lazar’s 12 points paced Danny O’s.

Cahill Law outlasted Total Comfort, 50-41, as Belade threw in 17 points. Calvin Teal scored 15 points to keep Total Comfort in the contest.

Week 4

Rich Kopec hit a free throw with no time on the clock to give Cahill Law a 42-41 double overtime win over KFC.

Thompson paced the winners with 15 points and Frank Skoronski was best for KFC with 11 markers.

In other B Division action, James Kirby scored 20 points to lead Total Comfort over Blanchettes, 51-33. Gamble scored 15 points for Blanchettes.

Billingslea scored 28 points for the winners and Lazar had 12 for Danny O’s.

Colony Grill moved to 4-0 by winning two games. First, Colony beat Abell, 68-48, behind 14 points from Hovan. Justin Pereiras then scored 20 points to lead Colony past Fitzgerald Construction, 77-57. Prutting had 16 points in defeat.

The Buds also won a pair of games to improve to 3-1 overall.

In a 74-52 win over CDW, Brian Clapper scored 23 points and Mike Kavanaugh 16 to lead the charge. Singleton led CDW with 22.

The Buds then overcame a valiant effort by Valley Roofing, who played with four players, in a 79-73 win.

Jon Robles netted 22 points for the Buds. DeSantis tossed in 30 points for the hard-luck Roofers, while Paul Vartelas had 20.

Greg Gurrier paced Artan’s Pizza in a 52-39 win over Uptempo with 17 points. Todice had nine points for the losers.

Pivovar edged Kondrat, 73-67, behind Matt Pivovar’s 15 points. Danielski scored 22 points, while Gene Culver Jr. had 21 for Kondrat.
