A Shelton resident has been accepted at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Bjorn “Connor” Davis is known for his citizenship, scholarship and support for the entire school community at Fairfield Prep, where he is a senior.

Connor was nominated for the appointment to the military academy by U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, who represents most of Shelton. At the Naval Academy, he will train to be a naval officer while receiving his college education.

Considered a standout performer on Fairfield Prep’s varsity swimming and diving team, Connor has established himself as one of the top swimmers in school history. The team’s co-captain as a senior, he has been an all-SCC and all-state performer in multiple events for the past two seasons.

In 2012, Connor was the top scorer on Prep’s state open championship team. In his junior season, he achieved all-American status in the 50 freestyle, and as a member of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

At the 2013 state open, he won the 100 freestyle and led off the 200 freestyle relay that would tie for first and set a school, SCC, state open and CIAC record.

“Connor is well known for having his best performances on relays — events that place team success over individual honors,” according to a Fairfield College Preparatory School press release.

Volunteers in the community

During the past two years, Connor has volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club and Spooner House. Both nonprofit facilities are in his hometown of Shelton.

He also has participated in Prep’s sophomore and Kairos retreats.
