The New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) will perform a 60-minute version of “Peter & The Wolf” on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at Shelton Intermediate School, 675 Constitution Blvd. North.
The Tales & Tunes performance, intended for families with children of all ages, will feature the NHSO Jazz Quartet and Connecticut storyteller Tom Lee.
“With rhythm as the focus of an interactive concert, all can join in the telling of pattern stories and the singing of familiar songs,” according to publicity material.
Tickets are $15 for adults, with one free child’s ticket included (each additional child ticket is $5). Purchase tickets at NewHavenSymphony.org.
Before and after the show
The NHSO’s Instrument Discovery Zone at 1:30 p.m. enables children to tap, tickle, and toot real orchestral instruments before the performance.
Following the concert, families are invited to stay for an afternoon snack and meet the performers.
Future NHSO concert
The NHSO’s next family concert in Shelton will be a Simply Strings program on March 2 at Shelton Intermediate.
The violin, viola and cello will introduce audience members to the world of string music, showing them how the instruments work together.
