OVERNIGHT SHELTON WEATHER FORECAST: Snow, ice and rain expected

Shelton residents can expect a potpourri of precipitation tonight, including the possibility of 3 to 5 inches of new snow and a thin coating of ice.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there should be rain, freezing rain and sleet until 11 p.m., followed by snow. The snow could be heavy at times, ending by 7 a.m.

Temperatures should remain relatively steady, in the mid to low 20s, the NWS said. There will be strong winds, including gusts up to 33 mph.

City got 7 to 8 inches of snow

During the day on Thursday, Shelton received from 7 to 8 inches of snow as well as rain, freezing rain and sleet.

Road and walking surfaces are slick from all the precipitation, which now has frozen due to the cold temperatures.

Friday should be mostly sunny, with a high of 37 degrees — which is warm enough to cause some melting.

There is a chance of light snow on Friday night, with a low of 24 degrees, the NWS said.

More snow possible in coming days

More snow is likely on Saturday in Shelton, with a high of 33 degrees. The NWS said from 1 to 3 inches could fall.

There also is a chance of snow on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, according to the NWS.
