The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley’s Torch Club members hosted a Nina “Poeta Power” Day on Feb. 4. They spent over two months raising money through bake sales and hat days.

Nina is a 16-year-old from Seymour battling a brain tumor.

Torch Club members presented Nina with chocolate covered strawberries and pineapples, cheer cupcakes and cards, a proclamation declaring Feb. 4 as Nina Poeta Day at the club, a pink club shirt, and a $250 monetary donation to the Poeta Family Fund.

Torch Club is a youth leadership development program, targeted to youth ages 11 to 13. To view more pictures from Nina Poeta Day, visit www.facebook.com/bgclnv.
