WARNING FOR DRIVERS TONIGHT: Black ice is forming

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement warning that black ice is forming on the roads tonight.

The temperatures is supposed to drop below freezing tonight in Shelton, and black ice could become a concern after midnight.

“Clearing skies, diminishing winds and temperatures falling into the upper 20s to lower 30s overnight will cause residual water from today’s rain and snow melt to freeze,” the NWS said. “This will result in hazardous travel on untreated surfaces.”

As of 11 p.m. on Friday, the temperature in Shelton is 37 degrees.
