ASK THE GOV TONIGHT: Public can question Malloy at March 5 public forum in Milford

Local residents who have a beef or compliment for Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will have their chance to ask questions of the governor next week in Milford.

Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman will hold a community forum in the Milford City Hall auditorium, 110 River St., from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5.

Residents who would like an opportunity to ask a question should arrive prior to the start of the event to submit their names on a sign-up sheet. The forum is open to the public and tickets are not necessary.

‘Engaging the public’

Malloy, a Democrat who was first elected in 2010 and is expected to seek re-election this year, said he is looking forward to the event.

He said he plans to discuss his agenda for the future with state residents. In particular, Malloy said he would like to discuss the state’s finances, job growth, and proposals to increase universal access to pre-kindergarten, make higher education more affordable and increase the state’s minimum wage.

“Engaging the public at forums like these is a critical component in our strategy to make our communities stronger and our economy more competitive,” the governor said.

Other forums to be scheduled

The Milford forum is the second in a series of gubernatorial community forums planned for the near future, with other dates and locations to be announced. The first session was Feb. 19 in Norwalk.

Malloy, according to a gubernatorial press release, “has held these forums each year since his inauguration in 2011, speaking with hundreds of citizens on a comprehensive range of topics.”
