February is over but winter isn’t.

Predictions for how much snow Shelton and the rest of southwestern Connecticut will get Sunday into Monday vary from an inch to more than a foot — depending on who you ask.

There is the potential for up to 7 inches of snow from late Sunday afternoon into Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). But the NWS notes that “any change in the track and intensity of the system may have an impact on the amount of precipitation expected.”

SheltonHerald.com and HANRadio.com will feature coverage of the storm and how it impacts the region on Monday morning, March 3, at 6 a.m.

Other forecaster says 4-8 inches

The area should get from 4 to 8 inches, according to a forecast by Jacob Meisel of SWCTWeather.com, as of Saturday morning.

This is a lot less than the 12 inches many forecasters were predicting on Friday morning.

The NWS forecast for Shelton is for 3 to 7 inches of snow from Sunday night into Monday.

Snow the heaviest on early Monday

Snow is expected to start after 3 p.m. on Sunday, with less than a half-inch of accumulation by Sunday night, according to the NWS. Sunday’s high in Shelton could be near 28 degrees.

The heavier snow is expected Sunday night into Monday with 2 to 4 inches falling Sunday night. On Monday morning, another 1 to 3 inches is expected in this area.

The heaviest snow is expected between 5 a.m. and noon on Monday, according to Meisel. He says school closings are possible Monday.

Sunday’s low is expected to be 16; Monday’s high is expected to be near 23 before dropping to 4 overnight.
