Huntington Fire Company No. 3 held its St. Baldrick’s hair cutting benefit on Saturday, with 40 participants.

The head-shaving fund-raiser supports helping kids with cancer. The company’s fundraising goal was initially $3,000 but they more than doubled it by raising $7,477.

Heads weren’t the only thing shaved — Shelton Fire Department’s Deputy Chief Tim Hongo shaved his mustache for donations. It was the first time it has been shaved in over 20 years, according to Mark Starzecki (see photo below).

The Huntington Fire Company thanked Downtown Danny O’s for allowing them to hold the event at their bar, as well as the ladies from Panache Hair Design on Bridgeport Avenue who came to buzz over 40 participants and their heads.
