James Allen Goodman, beloved husband of Susan Serricchio Goodman, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on March 15, 2014.

Jim was born on January 24, 1961 in Derby CT. He was the son of Carole Vogel Goodman and the late Arnold Goodman.

Jim is the proud father of Allen James Goodman and Christopher Arnold Goodman.

He was a lifelong resident of the Huntington section of Shelton.

Jim was the President of Goodman Insurance of Shelton. He was President of the Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut in 2009; served as president-elect of the association for 2007-2009; vice president in 2005-2007; treasurer in 2004-2005; and as secretary in 2003-2004. He was also a founding member and an active past president of the Young Insurance Professionals and was named their Professional of the Year in 1999 and 2001.

Jim was a member and past president of the Shelton Exchange Club and also served for several years on the Shelton Conservation Commission. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry. Jim, Allen and Christopher often ushered together.

Jim was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers and the NY Mets. He often enjoyed a good round of golf with his buddies and was a great lover of music. Each year, Jim, Sue, Allen and Christopher looked forward to vacations in Myrtle Beach and Marco Island.

In addition to his devoted wife, Sue, and his mother, Carole, Jim is survived by his sisters and their husbands, Lauren and James Brown and Terri and Edward Houghton.

He was predeceased by his father, Arnold, and his brother, Richard, and his mother-in-law, Carol Kent.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM DIRECTLY in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Chapel, 25 Church St., Shelton, on the Huntington Green. Interment will be private in the spring. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
