UPDATE 4 p.m. Monday — We originally reported that tomorrow will be the last day to help Kristjan Ndoj’s family through a collection on a fundraising website.
However, the collection has now been moved to end next week.
A fund-raising Web page was set up to help support the Ndoj family, whose son Kristjan died this past week due to gunshot wounds. To date, the page has raised nearly $24,000, and tomorrow will be the last day to help the family, who will soon be burying their child.
“I just want to be able to give them the money, so they could do whatever they need to do with it,” said Violet Wills, of Shelton, who started the site.
The funeral for Kristjan, 15, will be held this Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church, 50 Fairmont Place. Burial will follow at Mount St. Peter’s in Derby. A wake will be held the day before, in the chapel of the Spinelli-Ricciuti/Bednar-Osieski Funeral Home, 62 Beaver Street, Ansonia, from 3 to 7.
“I was thinking about how we could help this family,” said Wills. “I had gotten in touch with a few of my family members” to ask for suggestions of what to do, her sister said why not go to the Web.
Wills had used the website GoFundMe.com as a way to help raise funds for her daughter’s cheerleading, and was familiar with it. The Tuesday after hearing about the shooting in the Pine Rock neighborhood, Wills launched the site to help his family.
“I really was completely blown away with the amount that came in,” said Wills. “The outpouring of donations, is just absolutely incredible. I just can’t thank everyone enough for the support for this family.
“I know that no amount of money can’t ease their pain.”
