Honoring 65 years of Shelton firefighting service

Shelton-JackKraemerFireHuntington Fire Company No. 3 members celebrated 65 years of service by Jack Kraemer at a recent captains’ dinner.

“His spirit and dedication to serving the community are an inspiration to all the firefighters at the station, where he has served as company captain and fire commissioner,” fire officials said.

Kraemer also served in the U.S. Army in World War II, earning a Purple Heart as he drove a tank during the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton’s command.

Although no longer active in routine operations at the Huntington Fire Company, one can find Kraemer in the officer’s seat on the fire engine during Memorial Day parades.
