Flooding possible at The Maples in Shelton; rain to continue through Monday

The Maples is a small residential community along the banks of the Housatonic River, near Indian Well State Park.

The Maples is a small residential community along the banks of the Housatonic River, near Indian Well State Park.

The rainy, foggy weekend will continue through today and into tomorrow in Shelton, according to the National Weather Service.

Today, there will be occasional rain, and a high near 46 degrees. Tonight, rain is likely to continue, and it will be cloudy, with a high around 34.

On Monday morning, rain will be likely, mainly before noon. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 44.

 

Flood watch

At 9 a.m. Sunday morning, the water level at the Stevenson Dam was at 12.08 feet, which is in the minor flooding stage. Minor flooding stage is at 11 feet.

When the level gets to that height, minor flooding could happen at The Maples neighborhood, located in Indian Wells in Shelton.

Since Saturday, the water level has been more than 8 feet, which is considered action level, or a time to take precaution.

The levels are predicted to go down throughout the beginning of the week, and by Wednesday, it will go below the flooding stage.
