A team of 6th grade students from Perry Hill School in Shelton will be competing in the FLL North American Open Championship from May 16-18 in California, and sponsors are needed to help get them there.
They will compete against 70 other selected championship teams from across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Perry Hill Dominators (PhD’s) team is made up of the following students: Jake Daxner, Justin Gidwani, Siddharth Jain, Keegan McDonough, Amelia Nankervis, David Niski, Megan Pereira, Ian Pleasant, Anish Rajamanickam and Ananya Yadav.
They earned the opportunity to go to the championship after winning the Dec. 7 Connecticut State FIRST Lego League (FLL) Robotics Competition.
The team competed in “Nature’s Fury,” and the Dominators studied “wildfires” and researched the topic and innovative solutions.
“They are very excited and continuing to prepare on a regular basis for this prestigious competition,” wrote advisor John Niski. “Of course, a trip like this will be very costly for our program and any financial sponsorship that you can provide would go a long way toward making this once-in-a-lifetime experience a positive one for this team.”
