Want to sing the National Anthem at a Bluefish game? Time to audition

The Bridgeport Bluefish baseball team will hold its annual Anthem Idol singing auditions at three locations prior to the start of the 2014 season.

Shelton-Bluefish-LogoThe auditions, presented by Progressive Music, are used to select individuals or groups to sing The Star Spangled Banner belong home games at Harbor Yard Ballpark.

“These performers will be important in our goal to create an exciting atmosphere at Harbor Yard every game,” said Marisa Marvin, Bluefish community relations and promotions manager.

 

Audition times and locations

The first audition will be held at the Westfield Connecticut Post in Milford on Saturday, April 12 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The second audition will occur at the Westfield Trumbull on Sunday, April 13 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

And the final audition will happen at Harbor Yard Ballpark on Tuesday, April 15 from 4-7 p.m.

 

Best to pre-register

Those interested in auditioning and performing at a Bluefish game are asked to send an email to [email protected] In the email, include your name (or group name and number of group members for anthems), phone number, email address, your preferred tryout location, and age. The title of the email should be “National Anthem Audition.”

A Bluefish representative will contact all individuals who apply with an audition time for any of these dates. It is highly suggested all participants pre-register so they can avoid the line at each audition.

 

Soloists, groups, instrumentalists

All contestants will have their opportunity to sing the National Anthem on the field in front of a panel of judges. Performances will be held with a strict two-minute time limit.

Soloists, groups, and instrumentalists are all invited to perform. Some of the areas of focus for the judges will be on lyrical accuracy, voice quality, presentation, voice projection, time, and overall performance and talent.

Fans are invited to watch the performances and support their friends and family as they audition.

Season begins April 24

The Bluefish will begin the 2014 season on April 24. The first home game is Wednesday, April 30 against the Sugar Land Skeeters of Texas.

The team will play 140 games during the season, including 70 home games in Bridgeport.
