After a glorious and mostly sunny weekend in Shelton, get ready for soaking rain tonight and Tuesday.
As much as 1.25 inches of rain could fall in Shelton, with the heaviest precipitation in the overnight hours, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Rain begins around 5 p.m.
Light rain should begin after 5 p.m., with the intensity picking up into the night. Thunderstorms are possible. It will be breezy, with gusts up to 22 mph.
Luckily, most local residents will be inside tonight watching the UConn men’s basketball team play the University of Kentucky for the NCAA national championship. Tip-off time is 9:10 p.m, Shelton time. The game will be played in Dallas and broadcast on CBS-TV stations.
Will clear up on Tuesday
The rain will continue Tuesday morning in Shelton, with the sun beginning to come out mid-morning and temperatures climbing into the 60s, the NWS said.
Temperatures for the rest of the week should be in the 50s and 60s, with a slight chance of rain on Wednesday afternoon.
Weather for next weekend looks good, with warm temperatures and sunny skies now being forecast.
Heavy rain elsewhere
The NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Warning for tonight and Tuesday in northern Connecticut, all of Rhode Island, and eastern Massachusetts.
These areas could see possible flooding from heavy rain and also be impacted by strong winds.
